Which television show MOST influenced your decision to get into advertising?

Media Matters

Date: Thursday, 19 January 2006

Description:

We could impress you with a lot of buzzwords about the state of media today, but frankly, we’re just as clueless as you are.

That’s why we’re bringing together a panel of Media experts for January’s Ad Club luncheon. Together, they’ll give you a roadmap to creative and strategic media planning for today while predicting the direction media’s headed. You’ll eat, you’ll learn, you’ll get a promotion from all their tips…okay probably not that last one, but still, isn’t it worth a shot?

Join us as moderator Dave Wise, Marketing and Promotions Manager for Advertising at the Seattle Times, leads a scintillating discussion on this topic with the top media minds in the Seattle market.

Moderator: Dave Wise

With nearly 25 years of newspaper sales and marketing experience in both Advertising and Circulation he has developed consumer promotions with clients ranging from Starbucks and McDonalds to Cirque du Soleil and the Pacific Northwest Ballet.  He is a Seattle area native with an undergraduate and graduate degree (MBA) from the University of Washington.

Guest Speaker: Keith Mackay
Keith began his career in media tackling the Nike business at Wieden & Kennedy. He then moved on to EvansGroup (now Publicis) to help leverage the Bank of America brand to over 30 Western markets. For Midas, he helped stretch their media dollars by introducing them to recency planning. He was then hired by WONGDOODY, a hot creative shop, to help implement creative, strategic media planning into their agency culture. By plugging media into the creative process, he was able to double bottles sales of Widmer Brothers beer and develop unique events to secure co-op dollars for Clif Bar. Keith has now joined Optimedia, a nationwide Media Agency working with the Publicis Groupe. As the Director of Strategic Communications, Keith manages a strong team and several accounts including T-Mobile, BMW, and Coinstar.

Guest Speaker: Grace Rivera
Grace started her career in radio traffic and sales eleven years ago in Portland. After a year-and-a-half in radio, she realized she might be crazy enough to work in advertising. Since then, she has spent time at McCann Erickson, Avenue A, FCB, and WongDoody. Grace's experience on the agency side of advertising includes media work on Washington Mutual, The Bon Marche, Gateway, Boeing, Bank of America, NBA/WNBA Sonics and Storm, Luna Bar, Sierra Entertainment, and Dairy Queen. In her spare time, Grace enjoys singing Karaoke love ballads and traveling to such exotic lands as Spokane.

Guest Speaker: Sheryl Hudson
Sheryl has more than 21 years of experience in advertising and media planning, having worked on a multitude of high profile clients that included Starbucks, Converse, Pepsi-Lipton Tea, Lever 2000 and Wisk. She joined Sedgwick Rd., (formerly McCann-Erickson Seattle), in 1995, and has played an instrumental role in the successful launch of media campaigns for Washington Mutual, REI, Converse, Washington Apple Commission and Continental Mills. Sheryl serves as Sedgwick Rd.’s media director and senior vice president, working closely with the agency’s management team to ensure strategic and integrated media planning for all clients. Sheryl’s passion for innovation brings creative media leadership and expertise to the agency’s team. Sheryl and her team won Mediaweek’s 2003 Media Plan of the Year for Washington Mutual’s launch in New York as well as an Andy in 2005 for Integrated Branding for Converse. Sheryl is a native of the Pacific Northwest and a graduate of University of Puget Sound. Her interests include travel, art, antiques and plenty of exercise.
